The general consensus of opinion when models of the five contestants for Monaco’s ambitious offshore land extension project were put on public display was: why do we need it? However, after a recent holiday in a 22-storey apartment building on an island in Biscayne Bay, over a bridge from downtown Miami, an apartment on a quiet, offshore island with views over Monte Carlo seems idyllic. Undoubtedly, when the feasibility studies are done and the financial situation improves, this pipe dream will become a reality.
