Designer stores in London are hiring Mandarin speakers to cash in on a surge of wealth Chinese buying luxury goods as spending by Chinese shoppers in Paris doubled last year, with wine sales soaring (they mix it with Coca Cola!). Monaco has invested €4M on a worldwide advertising campaign and, in hopeful anticipation of a busy spring and summer, has spent the winter months upgrading its administration and facilities with new websites, more street signs to aid tourists, less paperwork to help new businesses, and multilingual staff in tourism departments (including Chinese).
